Description The role

We invite applications from NQTs starting their career, or from experienced teachers looking for a new opportunity.

Commencing September 2018, this will be an exciting opportunity to join a large, positive and supportive Science department. At Shoreham Academy, the Science department benefits from the use of excellent resources: 9 laboratories (including one specialist KS5 laboratory) and a dedicated computer suite. The department is also supported by 3 Science technicians.

Across the key stages, our overall trend in results, reflects our determination to provide excellent Science lessons to our students. As a department and individually, we continue to develop our own practice; CPD is based around both subject specific and cross subject pedagogies.

At KS3, we seek to build strong foundations in Science and recognition of key ideas. This enables our students to attain greater depth and understanding at KS4; we follow the AQA trilogy and separate Science specifications at KS4. Currently in each year group, we have 8 classes studying AQA trilogy and 2 classes learning separate Science.

Our thriving KS5 courses continue to grow in both number and overall results. We currently offer A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as Level 3 BTEC. The successful candidate may find they are able to teach KS5 in their area of specialism, as sometimes we require two groups in the most popular A-levels.

Shoreham Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children therefore all positions in the school will be subject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

To comply with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, all prospective employees will be required to supply evidence of eligibility to work in the UK.
