Description We are looking to recruit a Skills Tutor to deliver apprenticeship qualifications to learners working with a variety of employers in the region. Apprenticeships help business deliver real returns to a variety of businesses, improving productivity and competitiveness. The Skills Tutor will also deliver non accredited courses on behalf of employers to help develop the skills of their workforce.

Skills Tutors need to be highly organised with an ability to inspire and motivate learners to achieve their qualifications, as well as building strong relationships with the employers. Experience of teaching and learning and work based assessment is essential as well as the following vocational experience; Business Admin level 4.

Salary is dependent on teaching qualifications, as follows;

£20,000 Unqualified
£23,000 TAQA / A1 plus PTTLS qualification
£25,000 TAQA / A1 plus CTTLS qualification

Key duties of the role are:

Managing a caseload of learners ensuring timely progression of their chosen qualification to the requirements of the awarding body and Apprenticeship funding plus other Government or private funding.
Ensure all learners are visited regularly as per their agreed learning plan in line with the guided learning hours of the qualification and where necessary additional visits are carried out to support any additional needs.
Monitor learner’s progression ensuring they progress each month and ensure assessment for each element of the apprenticeship is completed enabling learners to meet achievement targets for all parts of their programme on time.
Maintain learner records accurately both hard copy and electronically and ensure all evidence for all visits is readily available and accessible for audit and quality purposes.
Undertake initial assessment and induction with new learners.
Undertake assessment and review with every learner in line with documented standards, system and strategy.
Implement any improvements identified as a result of performance reviews and internal verification sampling.
Work according to all awarding body rules, the Code of Practice, the Joint Awarding Body (JAB) guidance on internal verification and the standards laid out in the TAQA awards.
Engage employers in all learner reviews and promote a positive image of the company and assist in the completion of employer training needs analysis to ensure employers are provided with training solutions for all their needs / teams.
Promote and monitor equality of opportunity and safe working practices as defined by Intraining policies.
Attendance at regional meetings and training as required.
To support new assessors and act as a mentor and ‘work buddy’ when needed.
To actively support the company during assessor shortages by supporting caseloads out of region.

Candidates need to have the following:

Experience of work based learning assessment is essential as well as the following vocational experience; Business Admin level 4.
Ability to inspire and motivate learner’s to achieve their qualification within the stipulated timescale
Organised and able to plan and prioritise the workload and manage own diary
Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to engage with colleagues and learners
Confident to communicate with employers and generate new business
Self-motivated and driven to achieve targets
Positive attitude and confident yet can be sensitive to learner’s needs
Excellent record keeping and attention to detail
Able to work from home and work without supervision
Knowledge of qualification standards
Full driving license and own vehicle that can be used for business use
Good IT skills; proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and using the internet.
