This established Somerset Secondary School have started their search for a talented Maths Teacher to join them from September 2018. This full-time and permanent post would suit an experienced Maths Teacher with the desire and experience to teach up to KS5 looking to further their career at a supportive school.

Based within a commutable distance from Bridgwater, Taunton and Weston-Super-Mare, this school based on a large campus with excellent access to the M5. Covering a large catchment area, this supportive 11-18 School caters for around 1,200 pupils, with a larger than average number of students with special educational needs.

If successful, you will be responsible for teaching Maths across the whole Key Stage 3, 4 and 5 age and ability range, ensuring that lessons are engaging and planned with clear aims and objectives. Maths is a popular subject at the school and teachers are passionate about enabling all students to work to the best of their ability, to be confident in their use of mathematics and to enjoy the challenge of problem solving. The department is based in a suite of maths specific classrooms which are all equipped with ceiling mounted Data Projectors and Interactive whiteboards.

The school's ideal candidate is a Maths Teacher /NQT who can effectively participate in the development of all pupils and contribute to the continued success of the department. The successful applicant will have the core skills of communication and organisation allied with a secure knowledge of the National Curriculum for Maths at KS3 and 4, including recent curriculum changes.

You must be an experienced and successful Maths Teacher with a track record of raising student achievement in your career to date. You will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of how children learn well, utilising the latest educational techniques to ensure your lessons are engaging and successful. A confident and accomplished practitioner, you will have a track record of ‘Good’ or better classroom observations as well as well-developed classroom management skills. An understanding of a variety of different learning styles and a proven ability to deliver lessons which will engage and challenge pupils of all abilities to progress in their learning are essential for this role. Prior experience of teaching KS5 Maths would be advantageous.
