Do you want to earn some extra money? Work shifts of your own choosing? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

You'll join us as a Relief (Bank) Support Worker, working extra shifts when regular staff are unavailable, at our Supported living service in Stoke Mandeville, Aylesbury.

About the role

The Relief (Bank) post supports the permanent rota staff by completing shifts that are vacant due to annual leave/sickness/training/unforeseen vacancies. As such, hours are non-specific but the service will endeavour to balance the needs of the service against your own work/life balance as appropriately as possible. Rotas will be available 6 weeks in advance.

You will play a key part in assisting the three people we support to live as independently as possible. They are in their 20s and have been living together since 2014. All three are non verbal and staff communicate with them using visual tools and verbal prompts.

You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community. Outdoor activities they enjoy include cycling, bowling, swimming, trampolining, and going to cinema. They also do work experience on farms as well.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays and sleep-ins (approx. 2 per week). Shift pattern: Early Shifts between 7am to 3pm, Middle shifts between 9am to 3pm, Late Shifts beween 3pm to 10pm, Waking Night 10pm to 7am.

They sometimes require personal care which is mostly prompting and can show behavious of concern. We will provide you with everything you need to help people manage their behaviour, including specialist positive behaviour support training, and day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service (Frontline Manager).

There is no obligation to accept the work offered and if you unable to do any shifts you will remain on our Relief register for 3 months before automatically dropping off. Of course the more you put in, the more you will get out of this.

Could also be a great way to see if this is the career path for you!
