Circle Reading Hospital (Private Healthcare Provider) is growing and we have an opportunity for a Porter to join the Team. We opened in 2012, Circle Reading has 30 inpatient beds, 20 day case beds and 15 consultation rooms for outpatient appointments. This state of the art building has 5 theatres, equipped with the latest technologies and an extensive physiotherapy department. Circle Reading developed the look and feel of care first tried in Bath and sees approximately 4,500 patients each month and around 600 of these are day case patients.

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate individual who is enthusiastic, self-motivated and organised individual who would welcome working within a team in a theatre and recovery setting.


Assist clinical staff in moving patients between beds, trolleys and operating tables in accordance with department policy.
Delivery of stores including pharmacy to departments as required including maintenance of top-up areas.
Move and store equipment. And report any defects immediately to senior staff.
Restock medical gas cylinders throughout the hospital.
Assist with the sorting, delivery of post to wards and departments and collect any outgoing post as required.
Liaise with Operations Lead on a regular basis


Responsible for the maintenance of a high standard of patient related non-nursing duties and general porter duties throughout the hospital.


Transporting patients throughout the hospital in accordance with hospital policy.
Assist clinical staff in moving patients between beds, trolleys and operating tables in accordance with department policy.
Delivery of stores including pharmacy to departments as required including maintenance of top-up areas.
Move and store equipment. And report any defects immediately to senior staff.
Restock medical gas cylinders throughout the hospital.
Assist with the sorting, delivery of post to wards and departments and collect any outgoing post as required.
Liaise with Operations Lead on a regular basis
Undertake minor furniture moves as required.
Set-up on conference facilities as required.
Delivery of clean linen and collection of dirty linen.
Collection of clinical and general waste ensuring its disposal in line with hospital policies and procedures. In addition ensure that all waste areas are kept clean and tidy.
To carry out minor maintenance activity when required.
Work within a flexible working roster, designed to achieve the most effective use of staff for the patient’s requirements.


Past experience in an operating theatre or healthcare setting would be an advantage but not necessary.
