Description

Crest Strategic Projects (CSP) is a specialist strategic land division within the Crest Nicholson Group. CSP is not a housebuilding division and instead is responsible for securing strategic land opportunities, securing outline planning consents and subsequently acting as Lead Developer on major projects of between 500 and 3,000 residential units.





The Technical Team are responsible for the preparation of due diligence reports to support site acquisitions, providing support to the land and planning teams to ensure planning applications are technically deliverable and technical risks have been mitigated where possible. Management of the design team responsible for detailed technical design of strategic infrastructure, including access junctions, spine roads, drainage, earthworks and remediation, structures such as railway bridges and landscaping of public open space areas. Project management of the construction of strategic infrastructure to service land parcels, either for internal transfer to our house building divisions, or for external sales to other developers and the financial management of infrastructure and Section 106 budgets and cashflows.

What does the Graduate Programme involve?



Our Graduates often tell us the 2nd rotation year is absolutely key to their development - you'll be working closely with all departments, including Finance, Customer Service, Sales and more to expand your knowledge and true understanding of what we do, to future proof your skills and relationships for your career in Crest. In the first 9-12 months you will work to improve your knowledge and skills in order to progress your development and to support the Technical Department and team. In the second year. In addition to this, your main responsibilities will include:






  • Assisting with the due diligence reviews of technical risks associated with new site acquisitions

  • Chasing and obtaining information from design consultants, local authorities, utilities and similar bodies

  • Assisting with the administration of the Technical Department as required.

  • Shadowing the Project Managers overseeing the construction of strategic infrastructure on operational sites to develop technical and construction related knowledge and experience

  • Assisting the Project Managers with the management of the design and construction process on operational sites

  • Developing an understanding of the financial management process associated with infrastructure and Section 106 expenditure

What are you looking for in a successful candidate?






  • Ideally a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Project Management or Quantity Surveying at a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent skill as may be obtained in order to be able to undertake the tasks required within the CSP Technical Department.

  • Highly competent computer skills on programs such as Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project and Powerpoint

  • A strong interest in planning, design, construction related contracts & project management.

  • Analytical with good problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organisational skills.

  • Ability to multi task, identify key priorities and proactively deal with issues.

  • Self motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision but also be able to work well as part of a team with enthusiasm and energy.

  • Flexible approach to work

  • Attention to detail





You must also be prepared to continue with professional studies for relevant RICS APC, ICE or CIOB route.
